The Beaumont Radio Control Club is dedicated to promoting the sport of building and flying radio controlled aircraft in a safe and fun manner.
Flying radio controlled aircraft is a hobby for all ages and incomes. It is one that can grow with your increasing skill level. You can start out with a basic trainer and as your skill increases, you can advance into many different areas. There are airplanes and helicopters of all sizes and powered by everything from electric motors to gas turbine jet engines. Their are even gliders that require no motor at all. You can choose to build your own aircraft or select from a wide collection of ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) or RTF (Ready To Fly) aircraft. Whatever you decide you will find a wealth of knowledge and help from our members.
We are a family oriented club and welcome all visitors to our field. While the field is open to members every day of the year, you are most likely to find members there on the weekends.
The club meets at 10:00 am on the third Saturday of each month in the meeting room at Howells Furniture. Howells Furniture is at 6095 Folsom Road.
BRCC offers training for those of you just starting out in the hobby as well as those of you who haven't flown in many years and are interested in brushing up on your skills. For information on our training program, check out our "Training" Page.
If you would like to join our club, we ask that you review the club rules, and then follow the instructions listed on our "Join BRCC" page.

Thanks to the many people who participated, our Spring FunFly was a great event. The weather, while breezy, was right down the runway. There were many great planes to view and the flying was safe and fun to watch.
Here are our contest winners: Kyle from the LARKS club was one of the winners of our "Out and Back" race.
Another "Out and Back" winner was AaRhon (shown with his father Carl)
Chuck was the winner of our Spot Landing contest. /span>

The 2010 flying season is in full swing. This past weekend was no exception. The wind was low and numerous members took advantage.
One program we are proud of is our training. There are several people currently being trained on airplanes and helicopters. Here is 9 year old John, our youngest trainee of the season getting expert help from Carl while our club president, Josh looks on. For more information on our training program, click on the Training button on the left side of this page.

Aircraft of all types can be found at our field. Members fly helicopters, acrobatic planes, trainers, biplanes, jets, & scale aircraft to name a few.
To show you the quality of workmanship and detail some planes have, here are two photographs. One of these planes is a scale model of a crop duster called an Air Tractor 502. The other photograph is of the real plane dusting a rice field in West Jefferson county.
___ Carl's model on the left is complete with the dusting mechanism. While so far Carl and his son have only dusted our field, with baby powder, he has plans to tweak the mechanism and actually dust a small garden with seeds and/or fertilizer.
COMBAT! Are you interested in chasing enemy aircraft through loops and dives while trying to cut a ribbon from their plane - all the while dodging other combatants attempting to do the same to you? If so, you are the pilot we are looking for! The BRCC used to have regular Combat contests and we would like to organize them again. Don't know what it is about or just want to view some awesome flying? Check out this YouTube video:
If you are interested in flying combat or just learning more about it, contact our combat coordinator on our "Contacts" page.
A special Thank You to Francisco Zeledon for donating a starting table for the clubs use. It is an Extremely Nice starting table with a rear caster for easy mobility if needed. We're certain it will get a lot of use! Thanks Francisco!
Our last Eat-n-Meet of 2009 was well attended. It seemed like the the day for large planes, as many of our members brought planes that were 25% or larger. The wind was soft and so were 'most' landings.
The July Fun Fly was held on Saturday, 7/11/2009. The event was a success with members from several clubs in the area enjoying their hobby with fellow pilots and visitors. The weather, while hot, was perfect for flying. Early afternoon found our local Fox TV station filming some of our members and guests for the evening news. Click here to view their report.

We've been here a while and hope to be here some more... Seriously, we will be adding tales from our rich and long history.

Training with airplanes is accomplished with the use of a "buddy box". A buddy box is nothing more than a second radio linked to your radio via a cable. The instructor uses your radio while you use the buddy box. He has control of the plane, but by pressing a lever can transfer control of the plane to you.
The instructor will first inspect your airplane and radio gear to make sure it is airworthy and set up correctly. An approximate check
of the COG (Center Of Gravity) will be performed, but it is up to you to check the COG before bringing your plane to the field. If needed he will then explain the controls of the airplane and the basic principles of flight.
When everything is ready, the instructor will perform the takeoff and fly your airplane to an altitude where it would be safe to give you control. You will get to fly your airplane at the high altitude. Any time you get into trouble the instructor can immediately gain control and return the airplane to a safe and level flight. When it is time to land, the instructor takes over.
This process of instructor taking off and landing while you control the plane at high altitude will be repeated until your are comfortable with controlling the aircraft. At that point you will be about to perform your first takeoff. The last step in training is the landing. Once you have mastered that, the instructor has you perform all facets of the flight while he stands ready to take control only in the event you get into trouble. Once you land, you are certified to fly your plane solo.
